MT and CC named to the 2024-25 Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Men’s Indoor Track & Field No. 4 edition weekly awards

HELENA, Mont. – Montana Tech and Carroll were listed on the fourth edition of the 2024-25 Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Men’s Indoor Track & Field weekly honors Tuesday.

Indoor Field Athlete-of-the-Week:  Cade VanVleet, Montana Tech

VanVleet, a junior from Noxon, Mont., was selected as the Field Athlete-of-the-Week.

VanVleet threw 16.61 meters (54 feet, 6 inches) to hit the NAIA ‘A’ automatic standard mark for the Orediggers at the Bobcat Performance.  His toss is the fifth best toss in NAIA currently.

VanVleet also posted his career best 17.02 meters (55 feet, 10.25 inches) in the weight throw for Montana Tech.  He finished fourth overall in the event.

Indoor Track Athlete-of-the-Week: Zach Gacnik, Carroll  

Gacnik, a junior from Conifer, Colo., was selected as the Track Athlete-of-the-Week. 

Gacnik continued his strong year with NAIA B’ provisional qualifying time in the 3000-meter run for the Saints.  He clocked a time of 8 minutes, 40.97 seconds to finish seventh overall in the race at Bobcat Performance, setting a new Carroll school record (passing up Lyle Pocha’s 2014 time by less than half of a second.

Gacnik’s adjusted time for the NAIA national qualifying standard is 8 minutes, 22.43 seconds, which is currently seventh fastest time in the NAIA.
