KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The number of Frontier Conference teams grew to four members on the second edition of the 2025-26 NAIA Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 national poll, announced Wednesday by the national office. Two teams are listed inside the Top 25, while two other teams are listed in the receiving votes (RV) section.
Montana Tech has come out of the gate firing on all cylinders. The Orediggers are 8-0 overall record and 2-0 record in Frontier Conference play. MT rose to No. 4 after being ranked No. 6 in the previous record with 446 points.
Their offense has been both efficient and explosive, ranking among the NAIA’s best – they shoot 55.6 percent from the field, are among the national leaders in limiting turnovers (just 9.6 turnovers per game), and stroke the ball from deep with a 41.9 percent 3-point rate.
Montana Western moved one spot higher from No. 24 to No. 23 with an overall record of 7-1 and 122 points to the national poll. The Bulldogs returned to action last weekend, opening their Frontier Conference play with a 2-0 record after a high scoring affair at Valley City State (N.D.) 107-104 and at Mayville State (N.D.) 85-72.
UMW joined the NAIA’s Top 25 national poll for the first time this season in the first edition on Nov. 12, thanks to their victory over then-No. 1 ranked College of Idaho and then-No. 14 ranked Southern Oregon earlier this season.
Montana Tech hosts Montana Western Friday evening in the battle of the NAIA’s Top 25 nationally ranked teams.
Rocky Mountain (Mont.) and
Bellevue (Neb.) were listed in the receiving votes section of the national poll. The Battlin’ Bears collected 16 points with an overall record of 5-1 and 2-1 record in the league play, highlighted by a victory at then-No. 1 ranked College of Idaho. The Bruins recorded eight points to the poll with an undefeated 8-0 overall record and 3-0 record in Frontier Conference play.
The third coaches’ top 25 poll of the season will be released on Wednesday, Dec. 17.
