Women's Golf 10/18/2022 9:41:00 PM Brandon Stinson | Sports Information & Media Coordinator Wright and Zuleta earn All-Tournament Team Honors as Rocky Golf Takes 13th in TPC Deere Run Invitational SILVIS, Ill. Oct. 18, 2022 – The Rocky Mountain College women's golf team took on top NAIA competition at the TPC Deere Run Invitational in a weather-shortened 18 hole round, headlined by top-10 finishes by Valentina Zuleta and Claire Wright. Rocky went up against some of the top ranked NAIA programs in the country, including No. 3 Dalton State, No. 5 Indiana Wesleyan University, No. 6 Cumberland, No. 7 William Carey University, and No. 9 Taylor University, along with multiple other top-25 programs. The Battlin' Bears finished with a team total of 349, putting them in 13th place. No. 19 University of Cumberlands took the team title, shooting a 324 total. Valentina Zuleta and Claire Wright continued their impressive runs this season, as they both earned all-tournament honors by finishing ninth and tied for tenth, respectively. Zuleta shot an eight-over-par 80, putting her four strokes behind the individual winner. Wright finished one stroke behind her, shooting a nine-over-par 81. Tyla Potgieter finished with a 93 total, Breana Jensen finished with a 95 total, and Kadence Fischer finished with a 97 total to round out the Battlin' Bears competitors. "The girls fought through some of the hardest conditions one can face on a golf course" Coach Nathan Bailey said. "Near freezing temperatures with 20 mile-per-hour winds made it very difficult on an already challenging golf course. I'm proud of the way we never gave up and were able to beat a couple of ranked teams ahead of us and place two in the top-10. That gives us some great motivation to get back here in the spring." Rocky Golf will compete in the Grob/Spalding Cup held in Billings Thursday, October 20th through Saturday October 22nd.
