DiSU and DaSU earn final edition of 2026 Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week

HELENA, Mont. – Dickinson State (N.D.) and Dakota State (S.D.) were listed on the seventh and final edition of the Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week.
Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete-of-the-Week: Chloe Gunderson, Dickinson State (N.D.)
Gunderson, a senior from Powers Lake, N.D., was selected as the Field Athlete-of-the-Week.
Gunderson earned the Frontier Conference Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete-of-the-Meet after scoring the most points in the field events, thanks to a pair of victories in the throwing events for Dickinson State (N.D.).
She tossed 14.60 meters (47 feet, 10.75 inches) to win the shot-put title, as well as 45.51 meters (149 feet, 3 inches) in the discus for the Blue Hawks. She placed fourth in the hammer throw with a peresonal best toss of 53.15 meters (174 feet, 4 inches).
This is Gunderson’s third career Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Women’s Outdoor Track & Field weekly honor.
Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete-of-the-Week: Amelie Steins, Dakota State (S.D.)
Steins, a junior from Dusseldorf, Germany, was chosen as the Track Athlete-of-the-Week.
Steins had the most impressive performances at the 2026 Frontier Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, leading Dakota State (S.D.) to their first-ever Frontier title and their first conference team title since 1997.
She highlighted with a new school record in the 100-meter hurdles, starting with the prelims with a time of 14.08 seconds and established another one with 13.91 seconds after winning the title.
Steins also earned runner-up in the 100-meter dash finals (11.99 seconds) and 200-meter dash (25.34 seconds). She was fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.31 seconds.
She was named to the Frontier Conference Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete-of-the-Meet for scoring the most points in the running events. She was also voted as the league’s Most Valuable Athlete.
This is Steins’ third career Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Women’s Outdoor Track & Field weekly honor.
