DICKINSON, N.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) maintained their lead after the first day of the 2026 Frontier Conference Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship Saturday at Biesiot Activities Center. The two-day conference meet is being hosted by Dickinson State (N.D.).
The Trojans scored 68 points to lead the women’s team standings after eight events scored. Carroll (Mont.) is second with 54 points, followed by Dickinson State (N.D.) third with 51 points, and Bismarck State (N.D.) fourth with 46 points. Nine different schools scored after the first day.
Grace Steinmetz of Bellevue kicked off the day by winning the 10,000-meter run with a time of 40 minutes, 26.29 seconds.
The first day saw prelims in the 100-meter hurdles and 100-meter dash, with the top eight fastest times advancing to Sunday’s finals.
Carroll won the 4 x 800-meter relay title in 9 minutes, 35.95 seconds.
Tsitsi Karanda of Bismarck State captured the 400-meter dash title in 57.34 seconds.
Codi Nagel of DiSU threw the national qualifying standard of 43.31 meters (142 feet, 1 inch) to win the javelin title. Tyra Opperman also there a national qualifying mark and personal record of 42.39 meters (139 feet, 1 inch) to place second in the event.
Alexia Anderson of BSC edged Amelie Steins of DaSU by .02 meters to win the long jump title. Anderson leaped 5.77 meters (18 feet, 11.25 inches), while Steins recorded 5.75 meters (18 feet, 10.5 inches).
Lauren Cima of Providence (Mont.) won the hammer throw title after tossing the national qualifying mark of 55.37 meters (181 feet, 8 inches). Four different throwers, including Cima earned the NAIA national qualifying marks.
The day closed with Brynn Wandle of CC winning the pole vault with the national automatic qualifying mark of 3.98 meters (13 feet, .75 inches). Her mark ranks fourth in the NAIA.
The action continues Sunday at 10 a.m. (Mountain Time) and wraps up by 5 p.m. with the 4 x 400-meter relay.
