Bellevue (Neb.) defeats Bismarck State (N.D.) in Frontier Conference loser's out game

DICKINSON, N.D. - No. 6 seed Bellevue (Neb.) rallied from an early three-run deficit and defeated No. 4 seed Bismarck State (N.D.) 8-4 on Friday in a loser-out game at the 2026 Frontier Conference Softball Championship at Bravera Field.
The neutral-site win moved the Bruins (23-28 overall record) on after a game that turned decisively with a four-run fifth inning and Marguerite Brown’s two-run home run in the sixth.
BSC controlled the early innings and built a 4-1 lead. The Mystics scored three times in the top of the second when McKenzie Yantzer brought home Jordyn Marcoux on a groundout, a wild pitch allowed Tayler Falcon to score, and Savannah Gustavsson added an RBI single.
Bismarck State pushed across another run in the third when Marcoux singled in Leah Rolland, giving the Mystics a three-run cushion after Bellevue answered with single runs in the second and third.
Bellevue changed the game in the bottom of the fifth. Brown started the rally with an RBI single that scored Mariah Unverzagt. The Bruins then took advantage of a right-field error that brought in another run, added a run on a wild pitch and capped the inning with an RBI fly ball to move in front 6-4.
After trailing through the middle innings, Bellevue’s offense pieced together the game’s biggest swing at exactly the right time.
Brown delivered the finishing blow in the sixth, hitting a two-run homer that stretched the lead to 8-4. She finished 3-for-3 with three runs scored, three RBIs, a double and the home run, the top offensive line of the game. Unverzagt added two hits, scored twice and doubled for Bellevue, which finished with nine hits. Bismarck State collected eight hits, with Falcon recording two hits and Marcoux driving in a run while also drawing two walks.
Bismarck State left six runners on base and committed two errors, while Bellevue left five on and was charged with one error. Bellevue’s pitching staff worked through early trouble and held Bismarck State scoreless over the final four innings after the Mystics’ run in the third.
Bismarck State’s staff threw 92 pitches over six innings, while Bellevue’s pitchers covered seven innings and allowed four earned runs on eight hits.
The Mystics ended their 2025-26 season with 19-32 overall record.
Bellevue plays the winner of Carroll (Mont.)/Valley City State (N.D.) game Saturday morning at 11 a.m. (MT).
