KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Carroll (Mont.) returned inside the NAIA Top 25 national poll, making four total Frontier Conference teams ranked inside the Top 25. The sixth edition of the NAIA Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 national poll was announced Wednesday morning by the national office.
Dakota State (S.D.), Montana Tech, and Rocky Mountain (Mont.) also ranked in the NAIA Top 25, while MSU-Northern received votes recognition.
Dakota State moved one spot up from No. 7 to No. 6 in the current edition with 428 points. The Trojans had ballooned their winning streak to nine games, surpassing their 20-wins total for the sixth consecutive season. DaSU is 21-3 overall record and maintains their 2-game Frontier Conference lead with 16-2 record.
Dakota State had defeated Valley City State (N.D.), Mayville State (N.D.), Rocky Mountain, and Carroll since the previous national poll. The Trojans are scheduled to visit Montana Western and Montana Tech this weekend before closing their regular season schedule at home versus Dickinson State (N.D.) and Bismarck State (N.D.) next weekend.
Montana Tech dropped four spots from No. 13 to No. 17 with 219 points, despite going 2-2 record in the previous four games. The Orediggers dropped a pair of road contests at Carroll and Rocky Mountain before earning a home weekend sweep with wins over Dickinson State and Bismarck State last weekend.
MT is 18-4 overall record, thanks to their 11-0 home undefeated record before their home contests versus Bellevue (Neb.) and Dakota State this weekend. The Orediggers close their regular season schedule at MSU-Northern and Providence (Mont.) next weekend.
Rocky Mountain remained at No. 23 ranking with 16-8 overall record and 103 points. The Battlin’ Bears went 3-1 record since the previous national poll, with wins over Montana Western, Montana Tech, and Bellevue.
RMC, who is 10-0 record at home this season, returns home this weekend versus MSU-Northern and Providence. Rocky Mountain closes their regular season schedule on the road at Mayville State (N.D.) and Valley City State (N.D.) next weekend.
Carroll returned inside the NAIA’s Top 25 for the first time since December. The Fighting Saints are ranked at No. 25 with 16-8 overall record and tallied 75 points to the poll.
CC was 8-2 record in the last ten games, despite going 2-2 record since the previous national poll on Jan. 28. Carroll returns home this weekend versus UP and MSU-N and closes out their regular season schedule at VCSU and MSU next weekend.
Montana Tech and Carroll are tied for second in the Frontier Conference standings with 14-4 league record. Rocky Mountain is fourth with 13-5 conference record.
MSU-Northern extended their streak to five straight polls in the receiving votes (RV) section of the NAIA Top 25 national poll. The Skylights’ four-game winning streak came to an end with a 78-74 home setback to Valley City State on Feb. 7.
MSU-N collected 14 points to the national poll with an overall record of 16-7. MSU-Northern is 12-6 record in the league before their contests at Rocky Mountain and at Carroll this weekend. The Skylights close their regular season at home versus Montana Tech and Montana Western.
The seventh and final edition of the NAIA Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 national poll is set for Wednesday, Feb. 25.
