HELENA, Mont. – The SWX Local Sports of Montana live football broadcast resumes Saturday evening as Rocky Mountain visits No. 18 ranked Carroll in the final non-conference contest Saturday evening.  Kick-off is set for 6 p.m. (Mountain Time) at Nelson Stadium in Helena in Carrol’s homecoming football game.

Saturday’s schedule is the second Frontier Conference cross-over contests, where the East Division teams face the West Division teams.  Next Saturday (Oct. 6) is the start of the countable conference games when divisional contests begin.

After falling to then No. 11 ranked Montana Tech 30-19 on Sept. 6, the Fighting Saints are coming off from their impressive 35-7 road victory at then-No. 11 Dickinson State (N.D.) on Sept. 20.  The victory jumped Carroll (2-1 overall record, 0-0 FC East) eight spots from No. 25 to No. 18 in the latest edition of the NAIA Football Coaches’ Top 25 national poll.

The Battlin’ Bears (0-3 overall record, 0-0 FC West) are still searching for their first wins of the season.  RMC is coming off from a 35-21 home setback to No. 9 ranked Montana Western in the first Frontier Conference cross-over game on Sept. 20.
Saturday’s game will be the fourth game this season that Rocky Mountain has faced a team that is either ranked in the NAIA’s Top 25 or in the receiving votes (RV) section).

Carroll had won the last three meetings with Rocky Mountain, including the previous two meetings that were decided by three points (16-13 on Sept. 14, 2024, in Helena) and one point (21-20 on Sept. 16, 2023, in Billings).  The Battlin’ Bears are seeking for their first win over the Saints since Oct. 23, 2021, held in Billings by the score of 39-34.

Carroll had won six times in the last seven meetings with Rocky Mountain.  The Saints are 31-6 in the last 37 meetings with the Battlin’ Bears.
