Rocky Mountain at (11) Montana Tech to be featured on SWX Local Sports broadcast Saturday

HELENA, Mont. – The SWX Local Sports of Montana live broadcast returns to Butte, Mont., Saturday afternoon at Alumni Coliseum.  The 11th ranked Montana Tech hosts Rocky Mountain (Mont.) in a non-conference contest with a kick-off set for 1 p.m. (Mountain Time).

The Orediggers are coming off from a pair of victories over NAIA’s Top 25 nationally ranked teams, No. 5 Montana Western 38-27 at home on Aug. 28 and No. 25 Carroll (Mont.) 30-19 on the road on Sept. 6.

Wykece Johnson of MT currently ranks second in the NAIA in rushing yards per game with an average of 172.5 yards per game.  He is also tied for third in the nation with four rushing touchdowns. 

RMC is coming off from their 37-20 season opening home defeat versus (RV) College of Idaho on Sept. 6 in Billings.  Trent Nobach ranks fourth in the NAIA in passing with 336 yards per game.  Darius Haskin leads the nation with 207 receiving yards.  Dylan Deines ranks second in the NAIA with 17 tackles.

Montana Tech shut down Rocky Mountain 38-0 in both teams’ last meeting held in Butte on Oct. 26, 2024.  Both teams had alternated victories in the last four meetings, with the Battlin’ Bears’ last victory over the Orediggers 28-21 on Oct. 21, 2023, in Billings.

MT is 23-9 record in the last 32 meetings with RMC.  Both teams will meet for the second meeting on Nov. 1 at Herb Klindt Field in Billings, which will be counted towards their divisional record (East Division).
