Frontier men’s outdoor track & field teams excel on second day with two national champions and a national runner-up

MARION, Ind.  – The Frontier Conference men’s outdoor track & field exceled on the second day of the 2025 U.S. Marines NAIA National Championships Thursday at Wildcat Stadium, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan.

Carroll highlighted the second day with a pair of national champions.  The Fighting Saints had a pair of decathlon athletes finishing in the top three, led by Carson Krack who won the NAIA decathlon with 6,963 points (personal record for Krack). 

His teammate Tucker Monaco placed third after scoring 6,681 points.  CC collected 16 points in the decathlon.

The second national champion came in the high jump by Carroll’s Weston Means.  He cleared the height of 2.10 meters (6 feet, 10.75 inches) to capture the title, scoring 10 points for the Saints to the team standings.

Cade VanVleet earned the national runner up honor in the discus for Montana Tech.  He threw 53.10 meters (174 feet, 3 inches) to claim the NAIA All-America honor.  He was just .04 meters short of tying his personal record mark.

The Frontier Conference men’s outdoor track & field produced their fifth NAIA All-American on the second day, with Trystin Chapel of Rocky Mountain placing eighth in the long jump.  He leaped 7.29 meters (23 feet, 11 inches).

The Orediggers wrapped up the day in the 4 x 400-meter relay semifinals.  The team of Matthew Moreni, Adam Schrader, Morgan McClernan, Will Wagner placed 32nd in the race with a time of 3 minutes, 21.80 seconds and did not advance to the finals.

Carroll is second in the men’s team standings after scoring 34 points, trailing by 10 points behind the team leader British Columbia (B.C.) with 44 points.  Montana Tech is tied for 14th with eight points (Tabor, Kan., and Oklahoma City).  Rocky Mountain scored a point in the team standings, with a tie for 39th place with Evangel (Mo.), and Rio Grande (Ohio).

The NAIA national outdoor track & field championships conclude Friday with numerous national finals, starting at 11 a.m. (Eastern Time)/9 a.m. (Mountain Time).
