Richter earns NAIA Defender of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - JayCee Richter, a senior libero from Valley City State (N.D.), has been named the NAIA Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. Hailing from Linton, North Dakota, Richter has consistently demonstrated her skill on the court, culminating in a historic achievement.

On Saturday, Richter recorded her 1,959th career dig, breaking a 30-year-old school record previously set at 1,958. Her remarkable average of 5.40 digs per set ranks as the third-best in the university's history.

In the match against Carroll (Mont.), despite the team's 3-2 loss, Richter delivered an impressive 38 digs, averaging 7.60 digs per set. The following day, in a commanding 3-0 victory over Rocky Mountain (Mont.), she added another 21 digs to her record, maintaining a solid 7.00 digs per set. 

Overall, the libero finished the week with 68 digs for an average of 8.50 digs per set. She also recorded zero serve receive errors on 32 attempts and eight service aces.
