KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Three Frontier Conference teams rose up in the fifth edition of the Netting NAIA Football Coaches’ Top 25 national poll, the national office announced Monday afternoon.  One Frontier Conference team was also ranked in the Top 25.

Montana Tech climbed up one spot from No. 7 to No. 6 after rolling past MSU-Northern 49-7 on Oct. 11.  The Orediggers (7-0 overall record, 2-0 Frontier East, 369 points in the national poll) are the first team in the NAIA to reach seven wins this season. MT returns home Saturday afternoon, hosting Mayville State (N.D.).

Carroll (Mont.) kept climbing higher in the national poll for the fourth consecutive week.  The Fighting Saints (5-1 overall record, 2-0 Frontier West, 284 points in the national poll) rose two spots from No. 14 to No. 12, thanks to their 42-34 road victory at then-No. 8 Montana Western.  CC plays their first Frontier West home contest Saturday afternoon versus Simpson (Calif.).

The Bulldogs fell seven spots from No. 8 to No. 15, despite their home setback to Carroll last Saturday.  Montana Western is 4-2 overall record, 1-1 Frontier West record, and collected 240 in the national poll. 
College of Idaho also rose two spots from No. 22 to No. 20 in the latest edition of the national poll.  COI are in a tie with McPherson (Kan.) at No. 20 after recording 166 points each.  The Yotes are 4-1 overall record and 1-0 Frontier West division after being idle last week.  College of Idaho hosts Montana Western in the battle of NAIA’s Top 25 teams this Saturday in Caldwell, Idaho. 

The Frontier Conference Division contests continue for the third week on Saturday.  The SWX Local Sports will be in Billings, Mont., for their live broadcast of the Frontier East Division contest versus Dickinson State (N.D.) at 1 p.m. (Mountain Time) kick-off.

Poll Methodology

• The national poll is for publicity purposes only and does not influence the selection process for national championship consideration.
• A panel of head coaches representing each conference and the Continental Athletic Conference (Independents) votes in the poll.
• The Top 25 teams are selected using a points-based system:
  • 30 points for a 1st-place vote, 29 for 2nd, 28 for 3rd, and so on.
• The highest and lowest rankings received by each team are discarded before final tallying.
• Teams receiving only one point are not listed as “receiving votes.”
• For the Preseason Poll, there is no "previous ranking" column since it is the initial poll and differs from the prior rating system.
