Carroll Chosen as Frontier Favorite; Pickens Preseason Player of the Year

Carroll was voted as the favorite in the preseason 2023-24 Frontier Conference Women’s Basketball Coaches Poll. The six Frontier head coaches voted on the projected order of finish and the preseason awards.

The Saints received five first-place votes – the maximum as coaches are not allowed to vote for themselves – for a total of 25 points. They are coming off a 27-6 season, a conference regular season and tournament championship, and a trip to the NAIA National Championship final site in Sioux City, Iowa.

Providence and Rocky Mountain each received 19 points in the poll to tie for second. The Argos received one first-place vote. Montana Western and MSU-Northern tied for fourth in the voting with 10 points. Montana Tech received seven points to place sixth.

Carroll’s graduate forward Jamie Pickens was the choice as the Frontier Preseason Player of the Year. Pickens was the Frontier Co-Player of the Year and a NAIA First Team All-American last season. She has also been named First Team All-Frontier Conference three times in her career.

Providence had two players named to the Preseason All-Conference Team in center Maddy Dixon and guard Ashlee Maldonado. Rocky Mountain forward Morgan Baird was named to the team along with Kyndall Keller from Carroll and Jordan Sweeney from Montana Western.
