HELENA, Mont. – Isabelle Erickson embodies the true meaning of grit, resilience, and selfless leadership both on and off the court. A senior women’s basketball student-athlete at Carroll (Mont.), Isabelle has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to her team, her academics, and her personal growth in the face of significant adversity.

Resilience Through Adversity
Isabelle’s journey is defined by perseverance. After redshirting her freshman year and spending her first two seasons in a limited role, she never wavered in her commitment to improvement. Instead of seeking an easier path, she trusted the process, continued to show up every day, and ultimately earned a starting role.

Her resilience has been tested even further through injury. Following a torn labrum in her right shoulder during her junior season, Isabelle committed fully to rehabilitation while continuing to compete. Remarkably, she made the selfless decision to delay surgery until after her senior season to remain with her team.

Despite repeated shoulder dislocations, including in-game incidents that required immediate attention, she consistently returned to the court, demonstrating extraordinary toughness and determination.

Mental Toughness and Grit
Isabelle’s mental toughness is unmatched. She competes through pain daily, fully aware of the physical toll it takes, yet never allows it to affect her effort or focus.

Whether diving for loose balls, battling for rebounds, or stepping into pressure moments, Isabelle consistently gives everything she has. Her ability to maintain composure and perform under pressure sets the tone for her team. Even in situations where her shoulder has dislocated multiple times in a single game, she continues to fight, embodying a level of grit rarely seen in collegiate athletics.

Leadership and Team Impact
A two-year team captain and unanimous selection, Isabelle is the heart of her team. She leads not only through her performance but through her example, accountability, and voice. Her teammates look to her in moments of adversity, and she consistently responds with poise and determination. Isabelle fosters a culture of trust and unity, helping integrate new players while holding everyone to a high standard.

Off the court, she is equally impactful balancing her athletic commitments with work in the healthcare field, volunteering in her community, and serving as a role model for her peers.

Alignment with Core Values
Isabelle exemplifies the values of resilience, service, integrity, and personal courage. She maintains a 3.96 GPA as a biology major with pre-med emphasis, all while preparing for and excelling on the MCAT and earning multiple medical school interviews and acceptances.

She gives back through volunteer work in hospitals, schools, and community organizations, and is widely regarded as a servant leader. Her character is evident in every aspect of her life; she is someone who does what she says and leads with integrity.
