HELENA, Mont. – Valley City State (N.D.) earned the sweep on the eighth installment of the 2025-26 Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Softball Players-of-the-Week, announced by the conference office Monday.
Pitcher of the Week: Maddy Hazelton, Valley City State (N.D.)
Hazelton, a sophomore pitcher from Winona, Minn., was named the Pitcher-of-the-Week.
Hazelton had a hand in three of the four wins as Valley City State (N.D.) swept Dakota State (S.D.) in the Frontier Conference four-game series home opener. She tossed a pair of complete game victories and earned a save during the series.
Hazelton tossed 13 total innings for the weekend, did not allow a run and recorded 15 strikeouts (8.08 strikeouts per nine innings). With her two shutouts, her scoreless streak extended to 13 consecutive innings and allowed just one run in the last 21 innings.
This is Hazelton’s second career Erck Hotels / Frontier Conference Player of the Week award.
Player of the Week: Kylee Banerd, Valley City State (N.D.)
Banerd, a sophomore catcher/infield from Saskatoon, Sask., Canada, was selected as Player-of-the-Week.
Banerd has a weekend to remember as Valley City State (N.D.) earned a four-game series sweep over Dakota State (S.D.). She closed the four-game series after blasting three home runs (13 total bases in the game) and drove in seven runs. Banerd posted a batting average of .636 (7-of-11 at-bats), a slugging percentage of 1.727, and an on-base percentage of .692. She scored five runs and collected eight RBIs.
This is Banerd’s first career Erck Hotels / Frontier Conference Player of the Week award.
