BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Frontier Conference held their inaugural championship event in conference era on Feb. 21-22. Dakota State (S.D.) was the host of the 2026 Frontier indoor track & field conference meet, held at Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
Dickinson State (N.D.) edged Dakota State (S.D.) by two points in a thrilling women’s team standings (144-142). Montana Tech was third with 128 points and Bismarck State (N.D.) fourth with 102 points.
The postseason awards included Field and Track Athletes-of-the-Meet, Frontier Most Valuable Athlete and Pepsi Coach-of-the-Year. Those awards were announced at the conclusion of the conference meet on Feb. 22.
Abby Clark of MT and Faith Brennan of DiSU shared the Field Athlete-of-the-Meet after scoring 26 points each in the field events. Clark was selected as the Frontier Women’s Indoor Track & Field Most Valuable Athlete, voted by the league head coaches.
Grace Steinmetz of Bellevue (Neb.) received the conference Women’s Indoor Track Athlete-of-the-Meet award after scoring the most points in the running events with 30 points.
Shayne Wittkopp earned the conference’s Pepsi Coach-of-the-Year award.
All events in the 2026 Frontier Conference Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships are counted as conference meet records.
Athletes earning All-Conference recognition must be in the top three in each event.
