HELENA, Mont. – The Frontier Conference announced the men’s and women’s golf coaches’ preseason polls Wednesday morning. The league now has eight programs participating this year – Bellevue (Neb.), Carroll (Mont.), Dickinson State (N.D.), Mayville State (N.D.), Montana Tech, Providence (Mont.), and Valley City State (N.D.).
Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams in the preseason poll. First place is worth seven (7) points, second place is worth six (6) points, third place is worth five points (5) points, and down the list to last place with one point.
Rocky Mountain secured the top spot in the men’s golf coaches’ preseason poll, collecting four first-place votes and 46 points. Bellevue also earned four first place votes and finished second after scoring 41 points. Montana Tech placed third with 38 points.
Dickinson State followed with a fourth-place finish with 31 points in the poll. Carroll is fifth with 27 points, Mayville State sixth with 18 points, Providence seventh with 13 points, and Valley City State eighth with 10 points.
The Battlin’ Bears also placed first in the women’s golf coaches’ preseason poll with four first place votes and 46 points. The Bruins were second with two first place votes and 42 points. MT picked up the final first place votes, earning 37 points for a third-place finish in the poll.
Dickinson State is fourth with 31 points, Carroll fifth with 28 points, Valley City State sixth with 15 points, Providence seventh with 14 points, and Mayville State eighth with 11 points.
The 2025-26 NAIA Golf season opens on Monday.
Rocky Mountain will host the Frontier Conference preview, scheduled near the end of the month of September. The Frontier Conference Golf Championships will be held in late April in Phoenix, Ariz., at Papago Golf Course. The team winner in each gender will earn the conference’s automatic bid for the NAIA Golf National Championships.
The NAIA men’s national tournament is being held at TPC Deer Run in Silvis, Ill., on May 12-15. The women’s national tournament will be held the following week on May 19-22 at Eagle Crest Golf Club in Ypsilanti, Mich.
