MARION, Ind. – The first day of the 2025 U.S. Marines NAIA Women’s Outdoor Track & Field National Championship featured chilly weather conditions with cool temperatures, high winds, and rain showers Wednesday. The three-day national meet is hosted by Indiana Wesleyan at Wildcat Stadium for the third consecutive year.
Four Frontier schools were in action on the first day of the national meet, including Carroll, Montana Tech, Providence, and Rocky Mountain.
The Frontier Conference collected two NAIA All-America athletes (top eight finishers in each event) on the first day. Both All-America honors came in the javelin throw.
Providence’s Shelbey Klein threw 42 meters (137 feet, 10 inches) to claim a fifth-place finish in the javelin. Jenna Jordan of Montana Tech also placed seventh with a mark of 41.54 meters (136 feet, 3 inches). Havyn Vandenacre of UP also competed in the javelin, finishing 15
th with 38.74 meters mark (127 feet, 1 inch).
Abby Clark of MT sits in fifth place in the women’s heptathlon, scoring 3,023 points. Charlize Davis is 16
th with 2,514 points for Rocky Mountain.
The heptathlon continues Thursday morning at 11 a.m. (Eastern Time)/9 a.m. (Mountain Time) with the long jump, followed by the javelin and the 800-meter run.
RMC’s Kallyn Wilkins finished 16
th in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4 minutes, 53.46 seconds, and did not advance to the national final.
The Battlin’ Bears secured a spot in Friday’s evening 4 x 800-meter relay national final (Tyne Stokes, Wilkins, Grace Timm, and Maya Pearcy). They finished fourth in the semifinals with a time of 9 minutes, 18.51 seconds.
Carroll’s 4 x 800-meter relay team (Ellie Baxter, Nikki Nau, Sorren Reese, and Katelyn Christensen) also competed in semifinals. They posted a time of 9:53.84 for a 26
th place finish and did not advance to the national final.
Timm ran in the 3000-meter steeplechase for Rocky Mountain. She finished seventh with a time of 11 minutes, 15.43 seconds and advanced to Friday’s national final at 1 p.m. (Eastern Time)/11 a.m. (Mountain Time).
UP’s Lauren Cima threw 49.32 meters (161 feet, 10 inches) to place 15
th in the hammer throw.
Providence is tied for 17
th in the women’s team standings with four points (with Loyola, La., and Cumberlands, Ky.). Montana Tech is tied for 22
nd in the standings with two points (Friends, Kan., Truett-McConnell, Ga., and Southern Oregon).
The second day of the NAIA Women’s Outdoor Track & Field National Championship starts at 11 a.m. (ET)/9 a.m. (MT) with the heptathlon.
