SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Both Frontier Conference women’s volleyball teams advanced to the NAIA national quarterfinals after winning their respective pools Wednesday and Friday. The quarterfinals are set for Saturday evening for both Providence (Mont.) and Bellevue (Neb.).
The NAIA Women’s Volleyball National Tournament is being played at Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa, from Dec. 3 through Dec. 9.
No. 7 national seed Bellevue (29-4 overall record) had to rally back with a reverse sweep over No. 10 seed Oklahoma Wesleyan Friday, earning a 3-2 victory to claim the Pool G to the national quarterfinals. The Bruins also swept No. 18 Bushnell (Ore.) in three straight sets on the opening day.
BU opens their NAIA national quarterfinals play Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m. (Central Time)/4:30 p.m. (Mountain Time) against Pool B winner No. 2 seed Northwestern (Iowa).
No. 6 national seed Providence (Mont.) (34-2 overall record) extended their winning streak to eight matches as they earned a pair of 3-0 sweeps to win Pool F. The Argos swept No. 19 College of Idaho on Wednesday and No. 11 Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) on Friday.
UP takes on No. 3 seed Concordia (Neb.) in the last NAIA national quarterfinals match Saturday evening at 8:30 p.m. (Central Time)/7:30 p.m. (Mountain Time).
The quarterfinal winners move on to the NAIA semifinals Monday evening, with the winners advancing to the national championship match Tuesday evening.
