HELENA, Mont. – Both Jenna Thorne (Attacker) and Natalia Slazynska (Setter) from Providence along with Kelsey Goddard (Defender) of Montana Western have been selected as this week’s Erck Hotels Volleyball Players of the Week.
This is the second weekly honor of the season for Slazynska and the first for both Thorne and Goddard.
In helping Providence to a pair of wins over Carroll and MSU-Northern, Thorne averaged 3.43 kills per set with a .426 hitting efficiency. She totaled 10 kills and five blocks against Carroll and then added 14 kills and three blocks versus Northern. Thorne has nor had 10-plus kills in four of the team’s past five matches.
Slazynska guided the Argos 5-2 offense to an average of 7.43 assists per set while adding 1.43 digs and a pair of aces in the two wins. She distributed 21 assists in the sweep of Carroll and then handed out 31 assists in the four-set win over MSUN. Slazynska has now tallied 20-plus assists in eight consecutive matches.
Goddard anchored the Western defense with an average of 7.00 digs per set as the team split its two matches. She snagged 26 digs in Western’s four-set win over Carroll and followed with 30 digs in a four-set loss to Rocky Mountain. Goddard has 20-plus digs in five of the team’s past six contests.
