KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After crowning the 84
th NAIA Men's Basketball National Champion on Tuesday, the NAIA announced its selections of the 2021-22 NAIA Men's Basketball All-American Teams.
MSU-Northern senior guard Mascio McCadney was named an honorable mention All-American.
"I could not be happier for a guy than I am for Mascio." MSU-Northern head coach Shawn Huse said. "He is truly an all-around great guy with great character, great work ethic, and someone who truly values his education and excels at it. His basketball accomplishments speak for themselves and he truly is a deserving All-American."
McCadney had an outstanding year averaging 18 point per-game, 46 percent from the field, 38 percent from the three-point line, and shooting 84 percent from the free-throw line.
"I am really glad our league and the national committee did their research and included him." Huse continued. "Being a NAIA All-American in Men's basketball has never been an easy task and especially now with the D1/D2 merger a couple years ago. There are not many spots and the amount of NAIA players in the pool is now more than twice as many. This truly means he is one of the top players in the entire country of NAIA Men's college basketball players, and all of Mens college basketball players for that matter. It is elite company."
"He truly earned it and he truly deserve it. I could not be happier and more proud right now," Huse said. "For the people that have the fortune of knowing 'Mayo,' they will tell you this is a first-class guy that we have all been privileged to know and spend time with. Again, no one deserves All-American more than him. I am jumping out of my chair with happiness for Mascio McCadney right now."
"It feels really great to be honored as an All-American." Mascio said. "It just goes to show that all the hardwork I put in doesn't goes unnoticed. I can't thank Coach Huse enough for believing in me and pushing me to become the best player I could be. I would also like to thank my teammates for challenging me every single day. Our great team chemistry and trust allowed me to lead the team in ways I couldn't imagine. I'm very grateful for this accomplishment, it means everything to me."
