Orediggers open NAIA Men’s Basketball National Championships in California

HELENA, Mont. – The 2025 NAIA Men’s Basketball National Championship First and Second Rounds, presented by Ballogy, kicks of Friday and Saturday. 

Frontier Conference’s automatic bid Montana Tech (24-6 overall record) was selected as No. 6 seed in the Duer Quadrant and was placed in the Santa Clarita, Calif., pod.  The Orediggers open the national tournament play Friday evening versus No. 11 seed Southern Oregon (20-10 overall record) at 6 p.m. (Mountain Time)/5 p.m. (Pacific Time).

The winner of that game will move on to the Second Round at 7 p.m. (MT)/6 p.m. (PST) Saturday evening against Friday’s winner between host-team No. 3 seed The Master’s (Calif.) (25-5 overall record) and No. 14 seed Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) (20-9 overall record).

After this weekend’s winning team will move on to the final site at the Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo., on March 20-25. 

The Orediggers are making their fourth consecutive appearance to the national tournament, and their sixth overall trip in program history.  Montana Tech is 5-5 all-time record in the national tournament.
