Gellner was a college softball official for 15 years (2006-21) and worked 11 consecutive seasons of NAIA postseason assignments. He served as the Director of Softball Officials for the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) for the past nine seasons.
“Ryan has been and will continue to be one of the best softball people in our geographic footprint,” shared Frontier Conference Commissioner Dr. Scott Crawford. “He has led softball officiating initiatives for many years and will take the lead in the Frontier Conference as we transition into an NAIA softball conference. We look forward to Ryan’s efforts to make this move a seamless experience to ensure softball contests in the conference operate as smoothly as possible.”
Gellner currently officiates high school football and basketball in North Dakota. In addition, he assigns high school football officials through the High Plains Officials Consortium.
He is an active basketball official for the Frontier Conference.
Gellner lives in West Fargo, N.D. He is an elected official on the West Fargo Park Board and actively serves on three additional community boards. He is known for leadership in sports, mentorship of officials, and dedication to youth and community development.
