Scott Crawford began his tenure with the Frontier Conference as Commissioner on Sept. 1, 2023. Previously, he spent 16 years as Commissioner of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC). He also served as Commissioner of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (now River States Conference) for two years.
He is deeply committed to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and has served on the following NAIA committees and councils:
- Chair of the NAIA's National Coordinating Committee
- Chair of the Conference Commissioners Association
- Member of the National Administrative Council – Championships Subcommittee
- NAIA/NACMA Advisory Board
- NAIA Transfer Task Force
- Competitive Cheer and Competitive Dance Task Force
- Emerging Sports Task Force
- Gender Equity Committee – presenter at the 2010 NAIA Convention
- Champions of Character Advisory Committee
- Drug Education/Testing Committee
Crawford currently serves on the NAIA’s Membership Committee and the Subcommittee for Partnerships for the Conference Commissioner Association.
In recognition of his professional contributions, Crawford received the 2012-13 Charles Morris Administrator of the Year Award from the NAIA, an honor that celebrates significant administrative contributions to intercollegiate athletics while embodying the loyalty and enthusiasm of Charles Morris for the NAIA.
During his tenure in the KCAC, he received the Practitioner of the Year for 2011 from the Sport Management Department at Wichita State University for his impact on the sports industry in Wichita, Kansas, and his academic contributions to students in the program.
With a lifelong dedication to athletics and academics, Crawford earned his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Organizational Administration with a concentration in Sport Administration (2007) from the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky.
Before his doctoral studies, Crawford completed his Master's degree in Sport Administration at the University of Louisville in May 2003. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education (2000) from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English (1994) from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
Crawford resides in Helena with his wife, Shelley. They are the proud parents of three children, Emmeline, Marley Jane, and Dean.
