Halvorson named NAIA Special Teams Player of the Week

DICKINSON, N.D. — Dickinson State freshman kicker Nik Halvorson added national recognition Monday, earning PrestoSports NAIA Football Special Teams Player of the Week honors following his perfect kicking performance against Montana State-Northern.

The national honor came after Halvorson was named the Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Special Teams Player of the Week earlier Monday.

Halvorson accounted for 14 points in the Blue Hawks' 44-13 victory, their first win of the season. He connected on field goals from 27, 33 and 19 yards while converting all five of his extra-point attempts. He also recorded 481 yards on eight kickoffs with two touchbacks.

The Bottineau, North Dakota, native has yet to miss a kick this season. Halvorson is 4-for-4 on field-goal attempts and 7-for-7 on extra points through three games.

Dickinson State (1-2) returns to the road Saturday to face No. 15 Carroll in Helena, Montana.
