BUTTE, Mont. – The Frontier Conference has announced that the Butte Civic Center will continue to serve as the host venue for the Frontier Conference Women’s and Men’s and Women's Basketball Championships through the 2028-29 season.

The extension ensures that one of the NAIA's premier postseason basketball events will remain in Butte for the next three conference tournaments.

Montana Tech has served as the championship host in collaboration with the Butte Civic Center, helping elevate the event into one of the premier postseason tournaments in the NAIA.

“We are incredibly grateful for the confidence our Frontier Conference colleagues have placed in Montana Tech and the Butte community by extending our opportunity to host the conference basketball championships,” said Montana Tech’s Athletics Director Matt Stepan.  “To be entrusted with four consecutive tournaments is both humbling and exciting. This recognition belongs to an entire community that has embraced the event and helped create an exceptional championship experience for our student-athletes, coaches, officials, and fans.”

The league has two automatic bids to the national tournament.  The first berth will be awarded to the regular-season champion.  The second berth will be awarded to the Frontier Conference tournament’s champion.  In the event the regular-season champion is the tournament champion, then the second berth will be awarded to the regular-season runner-up.
