2026 Frontier Conference Baseball First Team All-Conference

DICKINSON, N.D. – The Frontier Conference announced their postseason baseball awards Wednesday evening at the Buck Auditorium in Kleinfelter Hall on the campus of Dickinson State (N.D.).  The Frontier Baseball All-Conference teams, postseason awards and Gold Glove team were voted on by the league’s coaches.  The Champions of Character recipients were also announced.

The Frontier Baseball First-Team consists of 17 recipients, while the Second Team consists of 16 recipients each.  Bellevue (Neb.) landed a total of 13 selections to the All-Conference teams, with ten (10) athletes being named to First Team and three athletes on the Second Team. 

Carter Claerhout of Bellevue was named to the Frontier Conference Baseball Player-of-the-Year.  His teammate Oak Held was chosen as the Newcomer-of-the-Year.  Connor Martin of Valley City State (N.D.) was voted as the Pitcher-of-the-Year.  Ryland Carroll of Dakota State (S.D.) earned the Freshman-of-the-Year distinction.    

Bellevue’s Duane Monlux was named as the Pepsi Frontier Baseball Coach-of-the-Year after guiding his squad to an undefeated conference season with 24-0 record.  The Bruins also ranked in the NAIA’s Top 5 during the season and carried their 32-game winning streak before heading to the postseason tournament this weekend.  Mitch Schmidt of BU was named as the league’s Assistant Coach-of-the-Year. 

Each team has one honorable mention recipient on the Frontier Baseball All-Conference list.

Six teams will be in action on the first day of the Frontier Conference Baseball Postseason tournament at Dakota Community Bank and Trust Ballpark in Dickinson.  The double elimination format gets underway at 11 a.m. (Central Time)/10 a.m. (Mountain Time) with No. 5 seed Mayville State (N.D.) facing No. 4 seed Dakota State (S.D.), followed by No. 6 Bismarck State (N.D.) playing No. 3 seed Dickinson State (N.D.) at 2 p.m. (CT)/1 p.m. (MT).

No. 1 seed Bellevue and No. 2 seed Valley City State (N.D.) await the winners from the first two games Thursday evening at 5 p.m. (CT)/4 p.m. (MT) and 8 p.m. (CT)/7 p.m. (MT).   

The tournament continues through Friday and Saturday with winner’s bracket and loser’s out games.  The championship game is set for Sunday at 12 p.m. (CT)/11 a.m. (MT), with the second championship game if necessary to follow.  The tournament’s postseason winner will receive the league’s automatic bid to the NAIA Baseball National Tournament Opening Round on May 11-14 at campus sites.
