HELENA, Mont. – Dakota State (S.D.) and Montana Tech had a recipient on the fourth edition of the 2026 Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week awards, announced by the conference office Tuesday.
Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete-of-the-Week: Oliver Tordsen, Dakota State (S.D.)
Tordsen, a freshman from Fairmont, Minn., was selected as the Field Athlete-of-the-Week.
Tordsen had a monstrous week as a freshman thrower for Dakota State (S.D.), fueling to a pair of discus titles. At the NCAA Division I meet USD Snooze Button Classic, Tordsen shattered a new DSU school record that was held by his older brother Conner Tordsen who was a NAIA national champion in discus.
Oliver hit 55.33 meters (181 feet, 6 inches) to win the title in the field of 32 discus throwers, with his mark being No. 1 in the NAIA as of Monday. He also added a discus title at the 61st annual Sioux City Relays with 53.50 meters mark (175 feet, 6 inches) in the field of 26 throwers, which is also NAIA 'A' automatic qualifying mark. Oliver also threw hammer and shot put in both meets.
It was Tordsen’s first career Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field weekly honor.
Men's Outdoor Track Athlete-of-the-Week: Morgan McClernan, Montana Tech
McClernan, a senior from Butte, Mont., was chosen as the Track Athlete-of-the-Week. It was his second straight week that he had received the Track Athlete-of-the-Week award.
McClernan raced to his fourth NAIA ‘B’ standard of the season in the 110-meters for Montana Tech in their home meet. He won the event at 14.38 seconds on Senior Day.
McClernan teamed up with Jaxon Alley, Matthew Moreni, and Zach Merrifield to win the 4 x 100-meter relay in a program-record 41.22 seconds, which is 20
th in the NAIA. McClernan also teamed with Carter Henke, Michael Marlow, and Konnor Gregerson to win the 4 x 400-meter relay in a season-best 3:20.76.
It was McClernan’s third career Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field weekly honor.
