BILLINGS, Mont.- Rocky Athletics is excited to announce the return of Head Coach Mike McLean, who will lead Rocky's distance teams entering the 2025-26 season.

"We are excited to welcome Coach McLean back to Battin' Bears Athletics in the role of Head Cross Country Coach," said Athletic Director Jim Klemann. "Mike is a servant leader with an excellent track record of individual and team success here at RMC. We look forward to building on our program's past accomplishments, and we are excited for the future of Battlin' Bears Cross Country and Distance back under his leadership.

After serving as the head coach from 2015 to 2022, Coach McLean stepped down due to health issues in the fall of 2023. After making a full recovery, he returned in an assistant coaching role during the 2024-2025 season.

"I'm excited to be back with the team," said Head Coach Mike McLean. "I'm looking forward to getting into the upcoming season."

Before joining Rocky Mountain College, Coach McLean spent over 30 years coaching in the Flathead Valley, including stints at Glacier High School, Flathead Valley Community College, and Columbia Falls High School.

McLean was a graduate of Ridgefield Park High School in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, and competed for Rowan University in Cross Country, Indoor, and Outdoor Track.

During his previous tenure at Rocky Mountain College, he coached 39 All-Americans in Cross Country and Track and Field.

Coach McLean brings a familiarity to a Cross Country group that has high expectations going into the 2025-26 season, returning all seven of their racers from the NAIA National Championships in 2024 on the men's side, and both of their qualifiers on the women's side.
