Four Frontier Conference schools prepare for 2025 NAIA Women’s Basketball National Championship

HELENA, Mont.  – Four Frontier women’s basketball teams will be playing in the 2025 NAIA Women’s Basketball National Championship First and Second Rounds this weekend.  There will be a Frontier Conference team in each of the four quadrants of the national tournament.

Providence (22-7 overall record), who will represent the Frontier Conference after winning the conference tournament title, was selected one of the final four sites to host the First and Second Rounds.  The Argos were placed as No. 5 seed in the Liston Quadrant and will face No. 12 seed College of Idaho (17-12 overall record) Friday evening at 5 p.m. in Great Falls.

The other pairings in Great Falls feature No. 4 seed Georgetown (Ky.) (20-8 overall record) taking on No. 13 seed Jamestown (N.D.) (19-10 overall record), with the winner advancing to Saturday’s contest at 5 p.m.

Providence was the runner-up in last year’s national tournament.  UP is set to make their ninth appearance in the NAIA National tournament.
Three other Frontier Conference teams will be playing on the road this weekend.

Rocky Mountain (20-10 overall record), who won the Frontier Conference regular season title, will play in Sioux Center, Iowa, this weekend in the Naismith Quadrant.  The ninth-seeded Battlin’ Bears open their national tournament play against eighth-seeded St. Francis (Ill.) (24-7 overall record) at 7:30 p.m. (Central Time)/6:30 p.m. (Mountain Time).

The winner will move on to Saturday’s contest at 5:30 p.m. (CT)/4:30 p.m. (MT) against the winner of No. 1 seed and national defending champion Dordt (Iowa) (29-2 overall record or No. 16 seed Haskell (Kan.) (13-13 overall record).

The Battlin’ Bears are making their eighth national trip appearance in program history this weekend.

Carroll (19-11 overall record) earned the at-large invitation to the national tournament as No. 10 seed in the Cramer Quadrant.  The Saints will travel to Ashland, Ore., this weekend and face No. 7 seed Wayland Baptist (Texas) (25-4 overall record) in the First Round on Friday night at 8:30 p.m. (MT)/7:30 p.m. (Pacific Time). 

The winner moves on to Saturday’s contest at 6 p.m. (MT)/5 p.m. (PT) against the winner of No. 2 seed and host team Southern Oregon (31-0 overall record) or No. 15 seed California-Merced (17-8 overall record).

Carroll is making their 16th trip to the NAIA national tournament, holding a 15-14 all-time record in the national tournament.  The Saints advanced to the national semifinals last season.

Montana Tech (18-11 overall record) also earned the at-large invitation to the national tournament, their first trip to the national tournament since 2011 and their third overall trip to the NAIA national tournament in program history. 

The Orediggers were seeded No. 13 in the Duer Quadrant and open the tournament Friday against future Frontier member and No. 4 seed Dakota State (S.D.) (24-4 overall record) in Madison, S.D. at 5:30 p.m. (CT)/4:30 p.m. (MT).

The winner moves on to Saturday’s contest versus the winner of No. 5 seed Governors State (Ill.) (26-5 overall record) and No. 12 Arizona Christian (25-5 overall record) at 6 p.m. (CT)/5 p.m. (MT).

The winners after this weekend’s First and Second Rounds move on to the final site at Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa, on March 20-25.
