2025 Frontier Conference Football Champions of Character East Division recipients announced, presented by WinWon Technologies

HELENA, Mont. – The 2025 Frontier Conference announces its Football East Division Champions of Character recipients Tuesday.  The Champion of Character award is presented by conference partner WinWon Technologies.

The head coach from each Frontier Conference member selects the recipient that fits to the NAIA’s Champions of Character initiative program’s five cores that include integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

The mission of the NAIA’s Champions of Character program is to provide training to instill the values that build character so that students, coaches, and parents know, do, and value the right thing on and off the field.

The Champions of Character program helps participants find balance by keeping the five core values – integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership – at the heart of the athletics experience.  In the NAIA, we strive to be The Right Way To Play!

Below are the recipients of the Champion of Character Award:

Dakota State (S.D.) University
Cole Paulson - senior from Pipestone, Minn. studying business education
“Cole is a two-time team captain, the nicest guy I have ever met. I ask each athlete to get 30 hours of volunteer service each year, and Cole has over 400 hours in 4 years. He is a 3.8+ GPA student, started the football team bible study, as well as the school FCA chapter. He volunteers for anything and everything and is a major part of leadership groups and leadership counsels.”

Dickinson State (N.D.) University
Jace Friesz - senior from Flasher, N.D. studying math education
“Outstanding student and person. One of the leaders of our team. He intends to go into education to teach and coach.”

Mayville State (N.D.) University
Tyson Snagg - senior from Brisbane, Australia studying business and accounting
“Tyson has been a great leader and represents Mayville State the correct way. He is someone who left his mark on Mayville State football for years to come.”

Montana Technological University:
Christian Vetter - senior from Butte, Mont. studying electrical engineering
“Christian is the ultimate team player who is one of our best leaders on the team.  He is someone that works extremely hard every day on and off the field.  He represents our program and the community of Butte everyday with ultimate pride.  He is the embodiment of what it means to be a Butte Tough and a great ambassador for our Digger Family.  I am so proud of what he has done for me and our Digger Family!!”

Montana State University - Northern
Crawford Terry - junior from Havre, Mont. studying civil engineering
“Crawford Terry, with a stellar 3.91 cumulative GPA in civil engineering, has shown his potential as a student. He is an outstanding football player but also adds a significant leadership presence on the field and in support of his teammates.  He has shown a generous commitment to community service by selflessly volunteering for well over one hundred hours; by demonstrating excellence in all areas of his life, Crawford epitomizes the ideals we cherish at our institution.   From the outset, he demonstrated a remarkable work ethic and commitment to achieve.  Crawford has the ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions.  He has developed strengths in critical thinking and can be counted on to create innovative and inclusive solutions promoting team concepts such as unselfishness and supporting the success of others for overall team performance.  Having Crawford Terry as a member of our football team has added many positives to our teams’ dynamic positive attitude chemistry. ”

Rocky Mountain (Mont.) College
Mason Browning - senior from Queen Creek, Ariz studying health & human performance with a concentration in Pre-Med
“Mason has been a tremendous leader for our team year in and year out / multi-year captain and has been a tremendous leader in the Frontier Conference and NAIA.”

Valley City State (N.D.) University
Wadley Lamy - senior from Bismarck, N.D. studying exercise science and rehabilitation
“Wadley had been a great representative of VCSU Football.  He represents his team and school in a positive manner on and off the field.  He has been a tremendous teammate.”
