BUTTE, Mont. – Montana Tech is the back-to-back champion of the Frontier after claiming victory at the 2024 Frontier Conference Men’s Track & Field Championship on Tuesday.
Montana Tech scored 301.5 points after winning 12 of the 22 events over the past two days at the Charlie Merrifield Track. Carroll finished second after scoring 171 points with Rocky Mountain using 83.5 points to place third. Fourth place was claimed by Providence with 80 points while Montana Western used 36 points to finish fifth.
Adam Schrader used a pair of event wins to earn Most Outstanding Track Athlete. Along with standing atop the podium in the 400 Meters and 400 Meter Hurdles, Schrader was second in the 100 Meter Hurdles. He also helped Tech win both the 4x100 and 4x400 Meter Relays.
Cade VanVleet was named the Most Outstanding Field Athlete after winning all three events he entered. VanVleet won the Shot Put with a mark of 16.91m which is sixth-best in the NAIA this season. He also was victorious in the Hammer Throw and Discus.
The Orediggers added event wins from Morgan McClernan in the 110 Meter Hurdles, Dom Maricelli in the 200 Meters, Ian Barville in the 800 Meters, and two from Nicolo Lancini in the Long Jump and Triple Jump.
Carroll scored event victories from Brycen Gardner in the 1500 Meters and 3000 Meter Steeple, Zack Gacnik in the 5000 Meters, Connor O’Hara in the 10000 Meters, Weston Means in the High Jump, Reuben Hornby in the Javelin, Josh Smalley in the Pole Vault, and the 4x800 Meter Relay. The Saints also had Tucker Monaco win the Decathlon.
Isaiah Thomas of Montana Western won the 100 Meters.
