Football 8/20/2018 1:35:00 PM Iain Dexter, EOU Sports Information Director Camp Announces 2018 Eastern Oregon Football Captains LA GRANDE, Ore. – Head coach Tim Camp announced the 2018 football captains, which features five seniors in Mick Wilson, Zach Lacey, Brenden Kelly, Justin Hughes and Nathan Harden. Mick Wilson • Senior • Offensive Lineman Wilson was a 2017 captain as a junior and started every game at right tackle for the Mountaineers a year ago. One of the most imposing forces in the conference, Wilson was a member of the Frontier's first team as helped EOU rush for over 1,800 yards. Zach Lacey • Senior • Defensive Lineman Lacey was also a 2017 captain on the opposite side of the ball, leading an enforcing defense for EOU. Last season, Lacey posted 36 total tackles with 18 solo and 6.5 for loss. He also had four sacks and started all 10 games on the front line. Brenden Kelly • Senior • Wide Receiver Arguably the toughest man to defend in the Frontier Conference, Kelly looks to take his game a step further in 2018 after being named First Team All-Conference last year. A team captain for the first time, Kelly caught nine touchdowns a year ago, hauling in 47 total passes for 927 yards while starting all 10 games. Justin Hughes • Senior • Safety Hughes will be a captain for the first time after proving his value in 2017. The senior missed four games in 2017, but when he was playing, the defense was at its best. Hughes recorded 54 tackles, nearly an average of 10 per game, adding an interception, four pass breakups and six deflected. Nathan Harden • Senior • Kicker/Punter Harden was one of the best all-around kickers in the NAIA last year and will be a first-time team captain in 2018. Last season, Harden averaged 42.6 yards per punt, good for fifth in the nation, with 14 inside the 20-yard line and just four touchbacks. As a kicker, Harden made 9-of-10 field goals, with three over 40 yards. The Mountaineers return to the gridiron on Saturday against the College of Idaho at 6 p.m. The game will be the first on the new turf field at Community Stadium, with an official ribbon cutting pregame.
