Carroll and Eastern Oregon Players Named Players of the Week

WHITEFISH, Mont., Sept. 27, 2010 - Players from Carroll College and Eastern Oregon University were named Frontier Conference Football Players of the Week.



Offensive Player of the Week: Kevin Sampson, Eastern Oregon University, 5-foot-9, 175 lbs, junior, running back from Seattle, Wash. In Eastern's 29-13 win over Montana Western, Sampson led the Mountaineers in both rushing and receiving. He rushed for 133 yards and one touchdown, and caught eight passes for 96 yards. On special teams, he blocked a punt for a safety. Other players nominated: Nathan Barnett of Rocky Mountain College, John Camino of Carroll College, J.T. McIntyre of Montana Tech and Stephen Silva of Montana State-Northern.
 
Defensive Player of the Week: Travis Schmidt, Carroll College, 6-foot-4, 219 lbs, senior, defensive end, from Gillette, Wyo.  In Carroll's 31-13 win over No. 21 Montana Tech, Schmidt recorded  three solo tackles, five assisted tackles, one tackle for loss (-3) and four quarterback sacks for -23 yards.  The Carroll defense held Montana Tech to 169 yards in total offense and 13 points. Also nominated, Max Hannah of Eastern Oregon, Paul Palu of Rocky Mountain College, Trent Panasuk of Montana Tech and Landry See of Montana State-Northern.
 
Special Teams Player of the Week: Lynn Mallory, Carroll College, 6-foot-3, 230 lbs, junior, linebacker from Hauser, Idaho In No. 3 Carroll's 31-13 win over No. 21 Montana Tech, Mallory recorded two unassisted tackles on kickoff coverage.    Also nominated, Eric Buer of Rocky Mountain College, Sean Kelly of Montana Tech, and Nick Knell of Eastern Oregon University.
