Carroll Football Adds Four More

Helena-MT. Carroll College head football coach Mike Van Diest has announced the signing of four new recruits to the 2007 Fighting Saint roster.

 

?We are very excited about the latest addition to our football team,? said Van Diest. ?These four young men are hard working and dedicated players who will contribute here at Carroll.?

Brent Williams    6?4    285    Offensive Tackle:

            Transfer from College of the Siskiyous in California.  Brent played H.S. football at South Salem H.S. in Salem, OR.  Brent was a 2 year starter in high school.  At the college of the Siskiyous Brent started 19 straight games a.  As a freshman he started 9 games at Guard and this past year he started all 10 games at offensive tackle.  He has a 3.2 GPA out of junior college.

 

?Brent Williams has the opportunity to make an immediate impact in our program this fall,? said Van Diest. ?He has started 19 straight games in Junior College and that experience is so valuable.?

 

Zach Zosel    6?3   235     TE/DE:  

Zach attended South Eugene H.S. in Eugene, OR.  He was a 3 year letterman in football and 4 years in track.  He was also a 2 year starter in basketball.  He was named captain his senior year in all 3 sports.  Zach was named 1st Team All-League as a junior and senior on defense and named All-League as a tight end his senior year.  Outstanding student and was academic All-State.

 

Ryan DeKruyf    6?7   230   TE/DE:

            Ryan attended Lighthouse Christian H.S. in Twin Falls, ID.   Ryan was a 2 year starter at DE and TE.  Was 1st Team All-Conference DE as a senior.  Had 8 sacks and scored 5 TD?s as a senior.  He was selected to play in the North/South shrine game.  He was a 3 year starter in basketball, and lettered in track.

 

?I always like to recruit TE/DE type players ? Casey Fitzsimmons, Shane Larson, Jeff Shirley, Travis Schmidt, Thomas Dolan to name a few,? Van Diest said. ?I believe Zach and Ryan will be players who will make a difference in our program.?  

 

Tyler Sanders   5?11   175  WR:

            Tyler attended Lake City H.S. in Coeur d?Alene, ID.  Tyler was a starter on the Idaho 5A state Champions team.  He was named 1st Team All-League for the Inland Empire Conference as well as 1st Team All-North Idaho.  He was a 2 Year Starter and named Captain his Senior Year.  In 2 seasons he caught 47 passes, had 580 yards and 10 TD?s.  He also ran track his freshman and sophomore year.

 

?Tyler reminds me of Justin Wigen and Zach Bumgarner and how hard they played and contributed to the success of our offense,? said Van Diest. ?I am looking forward to Zach, Ryan, and Tyler coming in with such a talented freshman class.?
