Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete-of-the-Week: Oliver Tordsen, Dakota State (S.D.)
Tordsen, a freshman from Fairmont, Minn., was selected as the Field Athlete-of-the-Week.
Tordsen had a monstrous week as a freshman thrower for Dakota State (S.D.), fueling to a pair of discus titles. At the NCAA Division I meet USD Snooze Button Classic, Tordsen shattered a new DSU school record that was held by his older brother Conner Tordsen who was a NAIA national champion in discus.
Oliver hit 55.33 meters (181 feet, 6 inches) to win the title in the field of 32 discus throwers, with his mark being No. 1 in the NAIA as of Monday. He also added a discus title at the 61st annual Sioux City Relays with 53.50 meters mark (175 feet, 6 inches) in the field of 26 throwers, which is also NAIA 'A' automatic qualifying mark. Oliver also threw hammer and shot put in both meets.
It was Tordsen’s first career Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field weekly honor.
