Defensive Player of the Week: Lorence Dela Cruz, Carroll (Mont.)
Dela Cruz, a senior guard from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, was selected as the Defensive Player-of-the-Week.
He was a menace on the defensive end in a pair of Carroll (Mont.) home victories over No. 20 ranked Montana Tech and Montana Western. He became the first Saint since 2003 to record six or more steals in four different games, coming away with seven steals in CC’s 80-60 win over UMW (one shy of his high mark of eight steals earlier this season).
Dela Cruz added two steams in Saints’ 61-59 win over MT. He finished the week with 4.5 steals and 2.0 defensive rebounds per game.
This is Dela Cruz’s fourth career Erck Hotels / Frontier Conference Player of the Week award.
