Outdoor Field Athlete-of-the-Week: Lauren Cima, Providence
Cima, a freshman from Harrison, Mont., was selected as the Field Athlete-of-the-Week.
She competed in three different throwing events at the Fighting Saints Open (hosted by Carroll) for Argos. She produced the NAIA ‘B’ provisional qualifying mark after winning the shot put with a personal record toss of 13.90 meters (45 feet, 7.25 inches). Her shot-put toss put her fifth best in the NAIA as of Tuesday.
UP’s Cima also captured the hammer throw title after improving her personal record toss of 48.58 meters (159 feet, 4 inches). She placed second in the discus with a mark of 40.61 meters (133 feet, 3 inches).
